COMPUTERS, INTERNET, & COMMUNICATIONS
Very proficient with Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office. Advanced experience with After Effects, Final Cut Pro, QuickTime, Flash, Fireworks, WordPress, Drupal, Vegas, and others. Comfortable on PC and MAC platforms, and type 60+ wpm. I am very competent with website design/coding, including content management, search engine optimization, digital production and workflow, web photography, digital art, and front/backend programming with HTML, XML, Java, ASP, PHP, CSS, MySQL, and other web apps. I can configure most types of computer and communications systems for web, data, voice, video, and live videoconferencing applications, including VSAT and Inmarsat satellite, SWL/HF radio, GSM cellular, VHF/UHF line-of-sight radio, and dial-up connections using third-world phone systems.

PHOTOGRAPHY & VIDEOGRAPHY
I currently shoot 99% digital, mostly with a small arsenal of Canon cameras, however I am comfortable with various modes, including 35mm, med/large formats, digital, and HDR (high dynamic range). I am a big fan of the CHKD (Canon Hack Develpment Kit) extended capabilities. Technical experience from travel, landscapes, sports, portraits, architecture, ruins, gardens, macro, products/studio work, concerts, underwater/marine environments, and wildlife. Expert-level retouching and restoration, color correction, and editing for wide variety of digital or print applications. Expert Photoshop skills. Experience in all stages of digital video production. Interested in time-lapse.

FOREIGN LANGUAGE APTITUDE
Understand 40+ computer, code, technical, ocean navigation, and other communications systems. Basic reading, writing, conversational Spanish, German, French, Thai. Currently learning Mandarin. Top 1% on U.S. Army’s Defense Languages Aptitude Battery (DLAB).

CONSTRUCTION, WOODWORKING, ENGINES
Construction experience and technical engineering on all stages of houses, barns, garages, storage sheds, lodges, tree-houses, earthships, geo domes, blinds and stands, cabins, boathouses, and other buildings, especially with framing, windows, doors, roofing, siding, insulation, patios, decks, and finishing. Working knowledge of carpet, tile, concrete, brick/block/stone masonry, rock/roadbed work, finish electrical and plumbing, chlorine/saline/natural swimming pool systems, saunas, soaking tubs, earthmovers, excavation, tree/brush maintenance and removal, gardening, and landscaping. Woodworking experience includes custom cabinetry and shelves, furniture, and hand-carving. Familiar with most construction, woodworking, metal and machine equipment/tools. Also experienced with chainsaws, splitters, wood chippers, and various mill saws. Knowledgeable in basic maintenance and repair of small engines, automobile engines (esp. air-cooled VWs, Chevy trucks, Nissans), trailer design/fabrication, light and electrical systems, and boat motors. I’ve also worked with 3M vinyl decals and show detailing, “wrapped” truck, bus, & trailer graphics, airbrushing, pin-striping, paint booths, window tinting, and fiberglass restoration. Basic seat upholstery repair. Basic arc, MIG, TIG welding. Experienced with "Off-Grid" and "Eco-Friendly" Energy, Water, and Utilities Systems.

VEHICLE & VESSEL OPERATION
Clean DMV record with no at-fault accidents. Class C commercial (16+ passenger) and motorcycle endorsements. Military vehicle operator experience includes HMMWV, HEMITT, M939 5-TON, M113 APC, M9 ACE, M60 AVLB, and M548 Cargo Carrier. Pristine Army driving record with full European roadway endorsement. Other operator experience on motorcycles, snowmobiles, ATVs, and sandrails. Completed off-road 4WD training, and superkart racing course. Excavating and earthmoving equipment operator experience includes variety of bulldozers, front-end loaders, backhoes, scrapers, motor graders, and dump trucks. Bobcat and forklift experience. U.S. Coast Guard classes include Boating Safety, Personal Watercraft, Sailing Fundamentals, and American Boating Course. American Sailing Association’s Basic Keelboat Sailing and Basic Coastal Cruising. Experienced with whitewater, flatwater, ocean kayaks, rafts, canoes, outriggers, and RIBs.

VERTICAL TERRAIN
I am very comfortable traveling, photographing, and filming whle airborne, including planes, helicopters, paragliders, and various power-assisted flight machines, as well as within vertical terrain, including mountains, glaciers, forest canopy or single tree riggings, rock/ice walls, caves, canyons, underwater.

SCUBA DIVING TRAINING
PADI certifications > Open Water, Advanced Open Water, EFR Provider, Enriched Air Nitrox, Rescue Diver, Divemaster. Logged more than 220 dives spanning four continents. Spearfisherman and bughunter. Interested in underwater photography and video, wreck, and night diving. Former editor of Divers Magazine.

MEDICAL TRAINING
Red Cross certification courses include Advanced First Aid, Infant/Child CPR, Adult CPR, Lifeguard, and Water Safety Instructor. Aced the U.S. Army’s Combat Lifesaver Course. Currently enrolled in a Emergency Medical Tecnhician Course. Next up, Wilderness EMT.
